Garlic

Garlic is rich in sulfuric acid that destroys the germs causing TB. Garlic has antibacterial properties and immune-boosting effect which are highly beneficial for a TB patient.

  • Mix together one-half teaspoon of chopped garlic, one cup of milk and four cups of water. Boil it till it reduced to 1 cup. Drink the mixture three times daily.
  • Cut 8-10 pieces cloves of garlic and boil it in one cup of milk. Simply eat the boiled pieces of garlic drink the milk in cup. Do this daily for a few months.

Bananas

Bananas are source of nutrients and calcium that can help boost a TB patient’s immune system. They also can help in reducing the cough and fever.

  • Mix a ripe banana in one cup coconut water, one-half cup curd, and one teaspoon of honey. Eat it 2 times a day.
  • Make raw banana shake and drink one glass of it daily.
  • One can consume 1 or 2 cups of banana stem juice every two hours until symptoms subside.
 

Drumstick

Drumstick has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help eliminate the TB-causing bacteria from the lungs and reduce inflammation resulting from the infection and constant coughing. Drumstick leaves are a good source of carotene, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin C.

  • Boil a handful of drumstick leaves in one cup of water for five minutes.
  • Cool it and add salt, pepper with lime juice.
  • Drink this daily in the morning on an empty stomach.
 

Indian Gooseberry or Amla

Indian gooseberry, also known as amla, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. The various nutrients in Indian gooseberry provide energy and enhance the body’s capacity to function properly.

  • De-seed three or four Indian gooseberries. Extract the juice with the help of a juicer.
  • Add one tablespoon of honey and mix it well.
  • Drink this every morning on an empty stomach.
  • Raw Indian gooseberry or its powder can also be consumed.

Oranges

Oranges have many essential minerals which protects the body from secondary infections and boost the immune system.

  • Mix freshly squeezed orange juice with one tablespoon of honey in a glass and add pinch of salt.
  • Drink one glass in the morning and one in the evening.

Black Pepper

Black pepper helps cleanse the lungs, which in turn helps alleviate chest pains associated with tuberculosis. Also due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can reduce the inflammation caused by the bacteria and constant coughing.

  • Fry eight to 10 black peppercorns in clarified butter.
  • Add a pinch of asafetida powder and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Divide the mixture into three equal parts and have one dose every few hours.

Walnuts

Walnuts act as a source of strength and boost the immune system of those suffering from tuberculosis. The various nutrients in walnuts can speed up the healing process.

  • Combine two teaspoons of crushed walnut powder and one teaspoon of garlic paste. Add one teaspoon of clarified butter and mix the ingredients thoroughly. Eat this once daily.
  • Walnuts can also be added in meals to keep the immune system strong

PepperMint

Mint has healing and antibacterial properties in it. It helps in dissolving mucus, revitalize body organs, and nourish the lungs as well as helping to prevent dangerous side effects of medicines taken for tuberculosis.

  • Mix one teaspoon of mint juice, two teaspoons of honey, two teaspoons of pure malt vinegar, and half a cup of carrot juice.
  • Divide the mixture into three equal parts, and drink one dose every few hours.

  • Green tea leaves can be brewed with warm water to make a tea.

Milk

Milk is considered as the best natural source of calcium, the best therapeutic agent for treating tuberculosis and its symptoms in individuals.

  • Drinking milk on a regular basis would provide the body with enough calcium to treat Tuberculosis. Some individuals are even recommended to switch to an ‘only milk’ diet in order to treat TB. So make it a point to drink at least 2 glasses of hot milk every day (preferably in the morning and night) to treat TB and its symptoms effectively.

Pineapple

Pineapple is often recommended as an excellent home remedy for tuberculosis owing to its ability to dissolve mucus and clear nasal blockages in addition to quickening the recovery process. Individuals trying to get rid of TB and its symptoms can therefore, benefit from a glass of pineapple juice (devoid of artificial sweeteners) every day.

Precautions to be taken

  • Don't go to work or school while you can spread the TB infection. Sleep in a bedroom by yourself until you can no longer infect other people.
  • Open windows in a room where you must stay for a while, if the weather allows it. This can help get rid of TB bacteria from the air in the room.
  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. Until you have been on antibiotics for about 2 weeks, you can easily spread the disease to others.
  • After coughing, dispose of the soiled tissue in a covered container. Talk with your doctor about other precautions you can take to prevent the spread of TB.
