Home Remedies for Eyes

Factors like genetics, poor nutrition, aging and excessive strain on the eyes usually contribute to these conditions. Weak eyesight is most often associated with either nearsightedness (called myopia) or farsightedness (called hyperopia).

One can have few home made remedies for better vision


Almonds are one of the great dry fruit for improving vision because of their rich omega-3 fatty acid, vitamin E and antioxidant content. They also help enhance memory and concentration.
  • Soak 5 to 10 almonds in water overnight.
  • The next morning, peel the skin and grind the almonds.
  • Consume this paste with a glass of warm milk.
  • Do this daily for at least a few months.


सौंफ़ or Fennel contains nutrients and antioxidants that promote healthy eyes and also slow down the progression of cataracts. it is also known as herb of sight.

  • Put one cup each of almonds, fennel (सौंफ़)  and sugar candy (misri) or simply sugar in a blender.
  • Blend the ingredients into a fine powder.
  • Before going to bed, eat one tablespoon of this powder, followed by a glass of warm milk.
  • Do this daily for at least 40 days.

शतावरी or asparagus is another excellent home remedy to improve eyesight. this herb herb is said to promote a long, healthy life of the eyes.

  • Mix one teaspoon of wild asparagus with one-half teaspoon of honey.
  • Consume this mixture twice daily with a cup of warm cow’s milk.
  • Continue for a few months.

Carrot and Amla: Another good home remedy for eye related disorders is to have one cup of carrot and amla juice, on an empty stomach in the morning. Carrot and amla have a lot of vitamin A and are store houses of antioxidants that help beat the ill effects of oxidative stress in the body.


Multi Vitamin specially Vitamin A-rich foods: Include foods rich in vitamin A into your daily diet. Foods like carrots, green leafy vegetables, amla, oranges, anjeer or fig and almonds are packed with this essential vitamin.


Avoid smoking: Individuals should avoid smoking to prevent deterioration of eyesight. Smoking increases the risk of conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, dry eyes, cataract, and damage to the optical nerves.


Basil juice is an effective remedy for sore eyes and night-blindness, which is generally caused by deficiency of vitamin A. Two drops of basil juice are put into the eyes daily at bedtime.
