Teeth Whitening

Dentistry is a branch of medicine that is involved in the study, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity. One such basic but crucial procedure is teeth cleaning.

  • Teeth cleaning is a part of oral hygiene which removes dental plaque and stains that aims to prevent cavities (dental caries) and subsequent gingivitis.
  • Good oral hygiene can be practiced at home by using oral care products such as toothbrush, dental floss, interdental brush and mouthwashes which prevent the accumulation of food on tooth surfaces. It is also important to ensure the hygiene of dentures and bridges as well as orthodontic appliances if any because dental plaque forms on them too.
  • Professional cleaning of teeth often referred to as “oral prophylaxis” involves use of ultrasonic instrument, fine hand tools, polishing and fluoride application. The professional cleaning of teeth is a crucial part of good oral hygiene and is needed periodically.
  • It is recommended every six months to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.
