Tooth whitening lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures and its not a one-time procedure. It will need to be repeated from time to time if you want to maintain the brighter color.

The most common reasons for teeth to get yellow or stained are:

  • Using tobacco
  • Drinking dark-colored liquids such as coffee, cola, tea and red wine
  • Not taking good care of your teeth

Home remedies to make your Tooth white

Baking Soda with lemon

  • Mix few teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice to make a paste.
  • Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply.
  • Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel.

Fruits for thought

Strawberries: are high in Vitamin C, which can help break-down plaque that is causing your teeth to look yellow. It also has an enzyme called malic acid, which may help to remove surface stains mixing it with salt, which acts as an abrasive portion of the paste. Scrub the mixture with baking soda softly will brighten your tooth naturally.

Banana peels: Bananas are considered to be a wholesome fruit that are a great source of teeth whitening. Rub the peel on your teeth for about a minute or two twice daily. The minerals in bananas such as potassium, manganese and magnesium, are absorbed into your teeth, which keeps your pearly whites in their best health. Orange peels are also considered to be a great source of teeth whiteners.

Carrots: Raw carrots are very beneficial in scrapping off plaque from your teeth and are also known as natural cleaner. Also rubbing raw carrot sticks on your teeth will brighten them up. They also kill the bacteria while giving you healthy gums and whiter teeth. Apart from carrots, apples and celery are also considered equally important sources of teeth whiteners. which prevents gum disease and gingivitis and kills odor-causing bacteria.

Quit Smoking

Smoking, yellows your teeth along with imparting you with other deadly diseases. So if you want to bring back the pearly white shines and get rid of tooth diseases you have to quit smoking.

Straw use

Sipping anything directly anything which is extremely hot or cold is not good for your teeth. Try sipping your tea or cold coffee through a straw as it cuts down the direct contact of your teeth and hot beverages.
